From the IOF:
Dear Event Advisers,
To celebrate the IOF’s 50th Anniversary year we aim to collect more than 500 compasses at this year’s World Championships in France. The compasses will be send to developing orienteering countries around the world.
In order to reach this goal, we need your help: If you are attending the World Orienteering Championships or the O’Festival ERDF Savoie Grand Revard in France, please bring your old compasses with you. There will be compass collection stations in both of these events. You can write a greeting note (or at least the name of your home country) to go with the compass. Pin punches and control flags are also much needed equipment for orienteers in the younger orienteering nations.
If you wish to participate but are not going to France yourself, you can also ask someone else heading to one of these events to take your compasses with them or send your contribution directly to the IOF Secretariat: International Orienteering Federation, Radiokatu 20, 00093 SLU, Finland.
Please help us spread the word by forwarding this message to your contacts. More information on the event can be found in this news article that was recently published on our website: http://orienteering.org/compasses-to-de ... countries/.
Best Regards,
Riikka Tolkki
