LAMM Beinn Dearg
Anybody running around at the LAMM instead of the Moray Mix? I am injured so have put son Rory in with my partner instead
That will make Dave have to run faster. I will be helping on the Starts on Saturday then retiring somewhere comfortable.

or you should have had the MM so it didn't clash with an MM in the same part of Scotlandia else I'd have been there

We were hoping to do both - finish LAMM at 1100 and start Culbin by 1300 - but then got lazy and just sat at the LAMM tent eating and drinking...

Re: LAMM Beinn Dearg
Enjoyed my first LAMM - it was tough even on lowly D course
However the navigation aspect was disappointingly easy and I'm sure many teams barely looked at the map (what a map!) and just played follow-my-leader all weekend
I would recommend most orienteers to go for the Score where (presumably) you get a chance to get away from the crowds / enjoy the magnificent scenery / do a bit of brainwork as well as legwork

Spot on AF, we went long periods without seeing anyone on both days (plenty of deer, frogs and birds though). Only had company for 10/15 mins around start and finish.
Mind you if you thought your follow the leader crocodiles were long at the LAMM try the D course on the OMM when weather is fine.
PS: the LAMM was on an area rarely visited by people (including the mapper)!

I'd recommend that most orienteers go to the Moray Mix instead.

I'd recommend deconflicting the 2 excellent events so we can do both

Few people go there, but it is often infested with munro baggers. A tough place, and had I the use of two legs right now, I would have gone for Culbin. (That Black was awesome).

Fixtures, schmixtures...
We tried to avoid the LAMM last year for our SOL but this meant turnout wasn't great because it was the week after the Scottish Champs. Unless you go into late June and risk losing people to early summer holidays, conflicts are always going to occur at this time of year. Just to confuse matters the LAMM date isn't always known when the SOL schedule is decided. Can't always assume the LAMM is second weekend in June.

By the way, great result for Tim Gomersall and Dan Gooch winning the C Course too! Another one up for the orienteers!

Course B winners were both NOC members - Andy Llewellyn and Sarah O'Neill. They now live in Edinburgh

Both SPOOK as well!
Sarah's a monster - at the Saunders last year she carried both her and Andy's packs on one uphill leg, and she killed me going up the back of Greyfriar on a Lakes5 rest day! Was on the winning female team at the FRA relays last year I believe.
