Blatant plug warning!
Cheap rate entry for the Nopesport League Nottingham City Race closes on May 29th though there will be possibilities for late entry as maps allow.

Re: Nottingham City Race
A mention also that although the assembly and finish will be in market square again the courses will start in the north of the city taking areas including the arboretum, Trent Uni, a number of intricate housing estates and Nottingham Castle that were not accessed at last years race. We have pulled out all the stops to get as many good areas as possible, which should provide supurb courses. Even the junior courses have full length and interesting courses!
You will also come across perhaps the most spectacular control location in british orienteering this year.

That's what (or who!) persuaded me to enter.

Now that is such an enticing, intriging statement! Photo of said control after the event, please!

Re: Nottingham City Race
The flyer is misleading, on two counts. It says
Courses 5 and 6 (M/W16- and M/W12-) are shown in blue.
Firstly, Junior Men and Junior Women (M/W16-) will score Urban League points on course 5. Juniors (M/W16s) who are aged 16 and therefore could run the more adventurous courses may still run course 5 and if they did they would score Junior points.
Secondly, anyone running up in a harder category will score points in that category rather than in their own. So for example Zach Field (M16) scored 100 points in M Open at Filey and Graeme Ackland (M45) scored 89 M Open points in Edinburgh. They didn't score any points in their own categories (MJ and MV). The flyer's wording 'still be eligible for the Nopesport League trophy' could be read as implying that they'd score MJ and MV points; this isn't the case.
You can run up and still be eligible for the Nopesport League trophy, however short course age classes (shown in blue) are not eligible.

Re: Nottingham City Race
There's confusion at the other end of the age scale. At least one entrant on the UltraVet (M65+) is under the impression that his run will score in the Nopesport League - I'm still awaiting a reply to my email to Nopesport as to which course I run (I want my result to count in M55 class although I'm M75)

Re: Nottingham City Race
Epocian: Super-vet Men (M55+) score Urban League points only on course 3. The problem doesn't arise for the women because course 4 accommodates both what NOC describes as Super-vet (W55+) and Ultra-vet (W65+) women. (Provided that the upload file flags them all as WSV, of course.)
The Nope hierarchy intend to introduce an Ultra-vet category for the Urban League next year but it's not in place this year. I'm not sure why NOC has split the 55+s, unless they're giving separate on-the-day category prizes or want to give the M65+ an excuse to run 'down' (and non-competitively for the Nopesport Urban League) without feeling guilty.

I pointed this out and believe an email has been emailed to the affected runners. I think all Ultra Vet men are being put on course C unless they (and so get NUL points) unless they request otherwise.

Re: Nottingham City Race
Rich, Outlaw,
it looks like train can't get me to Nottingham before 1150 is there any chance of the start block extending a bit after 1200? I promise to finish well before courses close
any help gratefully received

I emailed the organiser about this too, and they've put my start back to 1216.
Stop talking, start running.

A quick note that final details and start times are out and you can still enter online until midnight tonight. There will also be entry on the day until map supplies run out!
