route gadget
I am frequently disappointed by the amount of fellow competitors who put their routes on route gadget. I always try to put a route on, even though i have very very little spare time, as i think if someone has taken the time to plan a course, they would be interested to see where people went / which mistakes they made etc. I am surprised that others don't feel the same way. It also makes route choice analysis all the more interesting to have lots of routes. So come on everyone, stop wasting time on nopesport and fess up to your flroutes for all to see!

My problem is that sometimes I haven't got the foggiest where I actually went!
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

When that happens to me I can get it to work by quitting my browser (Safari of firefox) and opening the route gadget from the web history.
Good orienteering is not a skill. It is an attitude.

The wonders of wearing a GPS!
Many people say how "Brave" I am putting up my GPS track, the way I see it, RouteGadget is a learning tool. But I think a lot of people don't want to share their mistakes. I have noticed that some people only put up a route if they have had a good run, and if things didn't go well they don't seem to be able to find the time to do it

Planners, coaches and competitors can all get a lot of valuable information out of studying routes, even the bad ones.

I actually carry a Garmin 401 gps but a) I've never worked out how to put its output onto RG b) It loses the sky when I'm in deep FC coniferous forest and at the same time I run out of features to tell me were I am -once I've drifted I just have to keep going until I relocate - work in progress to prevent drifting in the first place.
If you look at RG for Eston on Sunday you'll see that I'm honest enough to admit my 10 min error on a TD2 transit -wotking on that as well

Re: route gadget
I'll post mine if not too bad and want to compare my route or use my GPS to see where I went wrong (if the maps fit together well).
Haven't put up Bigland as am deeply ashamed (in a not too serious way) by my effort. I navigated like a beginner and couldn't run at all. Downloading my GPS to get it to fit with that many controls would take ages and I don't want to see me going round in circles that frequently, if I'd done a proper circle round the controls I might have been more likely to find the things. As a slow runner I'm usually comparatively good at hard courses, not at Bigland.

Don't be embarrassed - look at Eddie's control no 8. I burst into applause when the little marker finally got there. Same could be said of my feeble attempts at Dallaschyle recently, though a near perfect run (apart from speed) at Wharncliffe made up for this.

I am glad I can be a source of such good entertainment
Perhaps that's why I don't have the final killer instinct. I find getting that lost really quite funny.
Incidentally at one point I was asked where I was. I said that if I knew I would not tell her but that I didn't have a clue anyway. I then had an aha moment, (wrongly as it turned out,) exclaimed to myself "I know where I am" and set off further down and wrongly. This lady decided to follow me despite presumably not being on my course even had I been correct
