I'm about to go and put out the final controls for this Sunday.
Its a great forest, so good its easy to plan great courses. Let me know what you think before and after the event.

Before the event I am expecting something a bit special. We'll have to wait and see.

EOD is fine, maps permitting. We're out of Black but come along for any of the others.

Re: SOL3 Dallaschyle
Brilliant event. Really challenging - definitely not favouring those that navigate on run and hope.
Vegetation this year seems to be a whole month or more in advance of last year making it tougher than expected.
How is this going to affect BOC and the WOC selection races?

Re: SOL3 Dallaschyle
Great course.
Took in all the best areas from WOC99 men's final (4.5km /80m climb)- a number of the same control sites too.
I had more than the odd look at the map last week, Just as well or I might well have been on for a marathon time for my 4.5k
(I can well remember Stan (8th) and a victorious Yvette running into that finish field.
Thierry Gueorgiou was back in 24th and Simone Niggli 15th.)
I thought that some of yesterday's control markers were a bit shy at showing themselves.

Re: SOL3 Dallaschyle
Thanks for the comments. I've not been in this game long enough to know what the WOC courses were, but I consider it a compliment that I saw the same things on the map as the good guys did. I'm getting quite a kick out of seeing Routegadget, interesting seeing what folk got up to.
With the flags being a bit shy, for my own feedback let me know which controls you thought were so. I'll give the relevant controls a talking to.

I'm not a fan of low hanging, and I twice lost a couple of minute having gone to the feature and not seen the flag. Annoying.
But for those particular controls (194/178), there was enough supporting detail that I should have got it right, and the visibility was such that someone else punching wouldn't have given it away. So, fair enough I'd say.

Re: SOL3 Dallaschyle
I detest bingo controls. Many controls on Sunday did not stand out to say the least. Some were only visible from very close, but all were spot on. The only time I lost was brief hesitancy. I love it when the control appears as expected rather than being visible from miles away. I didn't look at any controls that weren't mine.
I loved it - I only wish we had a few more forests where it is possible to plan like this, and it's great when the planning controlling team appreciate that the map is detailed and fair enough to do it. Well done Kevin and Richard.
Mind you please don't take this a licence to place controls in pits on bland hillsides

I thought the planning was excellent - shame my skills weren't consistently up to the challenge.
165 was another shy control, but one of my best executed legs (from 115)
