Scottish Champs
Just seen the start list for Saturday. What about M21L (and W21L)? Is it that I'm a big pussy not entering elite (there must be a first time for everything I admit) or are there a number of pussies running 21S? A round trip of over three thousand miles for a run against Pyrat (no offence mate) and a couple of others is not what I had hoped for. Having said that, I know I'll get a run for my money and I'll probably find the competition intense anyway. But, should we do away with "long" classes and just keep to an elite and short where planning allows the elite option? In this case it may just be the travelling distances involved in getting there, the idea of a physically demanding area, proximity to exams or treating it as a bit of a break (I see it that way too) but if the demand is not there then should we keep the class in what is, after all, a national championships? Replies, on a postcard please, to........

i openly admit to being a pussy and running 21s. but that is because i'm an unfit pussy and considering my struggle round 6km yesterday i'm glad as i'm going to struggle even more on 7.6km ... should be good tho as there are going to be tons of people doing that course so plenty of competition at least on that course...
this doesn't sound fun
it is however a bit of a joke only 4 folk doing 21l tho! and there's hardly a huge turnout on the W21e for that matter too.
not many folk doing the women's open at the relays either:
Women’s Open: BOK, EUOC, FVO, INT(2)
plenty points on offer there!

In places the rockiness may well test those with weaker ankles so please take appropriate precautions.

yeah my parents entered me for 21L... i thought there would be still some good competition to allow me to stay relatively fresh for the relays.

Get this as well... one of the entrants was in the Ireland team at JWOC in Belgium. He was out on one of the days running about in one of those radioactive pink orienteering suits. He ran off the map and found a railway track followed it the wrong way came out at a road, flagged down a motor vehicle got a lift by some guy who didn't speak any english to Holland and was sat next to fire with a hot mug of cocoa until the police or someone came round to take him home.
I don't claim that that is entirely correct, but the truth is not that far away.
It's the race of the weekend...I'll put a fiver on Pyrat!

Wake up Joykok - that story was posted about 3 months ago! It amazes me how that story keeps on going! If I had known at the time that I was involved in a true Orienteering Urban Legend I would have taken some photos of Ian's arrival back to the bus (hour and hours later!)
