Will it be afternoon starts on Day 1 - I'm sure the planner can answer this?
This will help to decide whether it is doable in a weekend.

Off the top of my head we have decided on 12.00 to 15.00 starts. Is this suitable for everyone?

That will fit in okay with EJ flights on Saturday from Luton.

Re: Moray Mix 2011
Lossiemouth is not like Edinburgh. It has several rectangular parts, but it does have masses of variety. It has some brilliant council estates, an RAF base (not the runways) and more forest than normal, but its mostly superfast dunes. I believe it will be a true and enjoyable challenge.
Culbin speaks for itself - I understand we are using the beautiful eastern forest.

Oh dear, the tough bit.

Re: Moray Mix 2011
The east of Clbin is NOT the tough bit. It has minimal heather and is one of the most runnable forests anywhere. The Finnish winner of the Forres event at the first Moray Mix told me it was the best forest he had ever run in in his life.

Agreed - we were at the first Moray Mix weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the Culbin event. We'll be going again this year - wouldn't miss it for anything!

I can recommend a good B&B - Lossiemouth House on Clifton Road. We've used it a few times for dive trips.
What are pictorial descriptions?

The Silver Sands is the big holiday park at Lossie. I camped there last year and it was fine, but it's in administration at the moment so I'm not sure exactly what will be on offer this year. You could try the Findhorn Foundation http://www.findhornbayholidaypark.com/ where you have 2 very nice pubs within 15 mins walking distance. It's a short boat trip across the bay to Culbin for Sunday's event (yes, boats do run in the summer) but it's a long walk to the start from the beach across the other side!

Re: Moray Mix 2011
I know nothing about our local campsites - it seems that more and more sites are caravan only nowadays. Scotland's access laws mean that you are allowed to camp on unfenced land for a couple of nights whatever the landlord thinks. There are plenty of possibilities for that from forest clearings to moorland.

Maybe not quite so handy for Lossie, but within shooting distance of Culbin, I stayed at the Camping and Caravanning Club site just west of Nairn before SOL3. Highly recommended forest site with red squirrels. Non-members welcome.

Just spent the last few days in a tent at Findhorn (by the eco place). Very quiet, very good facilities. £13.50 a night for 2 in a tent. Most fantastic sunsets. Unfortunately will miss the Moray Mix - clash with the LAMM.
