Just a reminder that entries close tomorrow, January 30th, for the British Nights at Bentley on February 5th.
The event is also the second event in the Masters' Cup series, and UK cup Race One.
For anyone who hasn't run at Bentley before, it is OD's best area - undulating runnable forest - a pleasure to run through.
There will be a heated, lit marquee for socialising, and food prepared by Phil the chef!
Final details will be going up on the OD website over the weekend.

Re: British Night Champs - Bentley Woods
Although the British Champs might seem like a strange place to start night orienteering, I think this is a great opportunity for Midlands orienteers who haven't had a go for many years, or ever. You can enter a short or novice course, and even if you don't do too well you'll still be proud of yourself for managing to find anything at all, and you'll also be able to savour the different atmosphere of orienteering after dark. If you haven't got a headlamp, you can pick one up these days for under £20, or you could borrow one.

Re: British Night Champs - Bentley Woods
I've just looked at the entries and am delighted to say that the general prediction that BNC would be easy pickings for UK Masters Cup points due to low entries. For the men in particular this loks far from the case - the entry looks really good to me - I guess being in the Midlands helps somewhat.
I have heard a number of people say that they are going only because it is in the Cup.

Does anyone have any idea of when start times will be posted for the event?

Re: British Night Champs - Bentley Woods
Start times have appeared on Fabian4. I was surprised to see a 3 minute start interval between "seeds", but apparently Appendix L (seeding) doesn't apply to the British Nights. And anyway, it's dark, so we won't all see each other...
Looking forward to it.

Start times are now also available from OD website.
People who changed course after entries closed on Fabian appear in original class on Fabian as tba so don’t worry about them.
Anyone who has entered late will not be on Fabian but will be on OD website.

I'm feeling scared - the courses seem very long - I better pack a spare battery

I opted for an early start (18:16) so that if I get lost there's a chance that someone will find me... 18:16 doesn't sound very dark.
I was out checking control sites on Sandwell Valley till 17:20 the other evening without any kind of artificial light. Though I notice that rather naughtily they've organised the night champs to be at new moon so I better put a torch in my pocket.

I'm feeling scared that my fluorescent pyjamas may fail the dress code test.
I have never tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs
