For those with time available, there’s now a good choice of additional events – especially if you’re able to stay on for the Irish Championships being held the following weekend. You’ll need some staying power to do them all so here goes with outline details for now (entry details to follow):
Thu 21 Apr – Queens Sprint Race thanks to QUBOC. 2 courses – short (1.2k yellow standard) and open (2.5k). Great area around the beautiful Queens University and adjacent Botanic Gardens. Start times from 2.30 – 6.30pm.
Thu 21 Apr – time to fit this in after the Sprint! Short mountain race series – Tollymore National Outdoor Centre (TNOC). The Hill and Dale series has become a not to be missed phenomenon in Northern Ireland with 200 runners on a Thursday night, a blast of a race and some great social in a nearby pub afterwards. Registration from 6.30pm with the race starting at 7.30pm. Less than an hour from Belfast and the location is a fantastic new adventure activities centre - http://www.tollymore.com
Tue 26 Apr – out to the west this time to the rugged beauty of County Fermanagh. A selection of colour courses will be available courtesy of FERMO with afternoon start times to allow travel – 1.30 – 3.30pm. Area to be confirmed but probably Gortalughany, near Florencecourt which is south of Enniskillen – less than 2 hours from Belfast.
Wed 27 and Thu 28 Apr – 2 events on these days back to the Mourne Mountains in the east thanks to NWOC. There will be 5 courses available on each day from Long Orange up to Brown. Start times the same for both days – 11.30 – 1pm.
Thu 28 Apr – one last Hill and Dale before a day’s rest – will anyone complete 4 days of JK and these 6 events? This one is Slieve Martin in Rostrevor with stunning views over Carlingford Lough. Same times – registration from 6.30pm, race starts at 7.30pm and a nearby pub from about 8.30pm.
Other POCs – we’ve had a number of enquiries about other training opportunities. We’ll provide maps nearer the time (probably in March) of a number of POCs in the areas close to the JK. Any specific requests for groups should be sent through to info@jk2011.org.uk

I've set up an online entries system for the Queen's Sprint Race, it can be accessed at the following page,

With relatively late start times, we hope plenty of you can make it! The planner is Patrick Higgins and the controller is this years JK Sprint controller, Richard McCourt.

Just a wee note to say that we will be closing pre-entry for the Queen's sprint race tomorrow at 6pm. A limited number of maps will be available on the day.
