Re: The New BOF Website
I think I like it - the design looks much cleaner than the old one, and some of the organisation appears to be a bit more sensible. The content and functionality seems to be much the same, though.
The fixtures list looks a bit of a mess at the moment as somebody seems to have been a bit too eager in deleting the old website and has removed the image files for the icons, but hopefully that will be fixed soon.

Re: The New BOF Website
Apart from the headings I've got a big empty white page with something red hidden behind it on the right. If I scroll down I eventually pick up the news items.
I expect you'll all tell me it's a Mac thing
Also clicked onto the "development" Success stories and none of the links work.

Looks ok here now (They didn't about 10min ago), probably due to new data being uploaded.

The gremlins have stolen my photo from the news item. At least it's here!

The fixtures icons have been fixed already
. I've reported the broken links; the files are still there but have been moved to a new location (eg.), so I think it's just the links that need amending.
These sorts of niggles are pretty understandable - but they seem to be dealing with them fairly quickly.

I'm having to look at it on IE6 (lack of money in local government) and the formatting doesn't work properly with the main content a long scroll down below the news items -probably a slightly better version of what Mrs H was seeing

Re: The New BOF Website
I agree, the general layout looks good and the menu system is much improved. Although much of the current content is just ported across from the old site, the new site apparently provides the opportunity for new functionality that will be coming soon.
There are some missing images and broken links, but they'll be fixed (quickly, it seems).
The only problem I currently have is that I run my (fairly old) laptop at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768, and that is narrower than the fixed width of the site (presumably designed for 1280 width). So I'm only seeing the left half of the red band containing news items.
The new website also works nicely on my Android smart-phone, whereas the old one (with Flash menu) didn't, so that's another improvement.

The minimum width seems to be set at (a slightly odd) 1100px - given that that ~20% of web users are allegedly still using screens set at 1024, perhaps the developers could shave 76px off somewhere.

Re: The New BOF Website
The minimum width is required as some of the submenus (Schools, Events, and Development) are long and need this amount of space for all of the links to be visible. I see lots of sideways scrolling on my netbook if this remains the same.
The way the menus change as you move over them annoys me - I do not like having to remember to move the mouse down first before going sideways to find the suboption I want to go to.

Re: The New BOF Website
I think the minimum width of the menus could be reduced, though - at the moment there are 28px of horizontal padding on each menu item, and that could probably be trimmed slightly without making it look bad.
