JK 2011 - Stena Line takes over Irish Sea routes

Perhaps this explain a protracted string of "next week" promises from both Stenaline and DFDS.

Stena Line has acquired 2 routes from Heysham and Liverpool to Belfast from DFDS (previously Norfolkline/Liverpool Ferries). In doing so, they will close the Fleetwood to Larne route.

This will make it simpler for JK competitors with a better range of routes through a single operator covering Stranraer/Belfast, Heysham/Liverpool to Belfast/Dublin and Holyhead/Dublin.
