Moravian have just had their latest Saturday League on a new school map of 0.8 km Square and half of that impenetrable gorse.
It was brilliant with a 22 minute winning time. It had a beach and some mini dunes, but was really made because of the reentrants leading onto the beach.
A few years ago I'd have laughed at the idea of using a primary school map for a club event, but it just goes to show that if you map appropriately for the type and scale of the area you can get fun out of all sorts of places.
I suspect that the map will be on MOR's route gadget by tomorrow.

I agree Eddie - creativity is a good way of stopping us all getting stale and also bringing new people into contact with orienteering (or map racing or whatever we are calling it now
Out of interest what scale was your new map?

Re: Tiny areas for orienteering
It may have been a small local event but it had everything you needed for a good race, route choice, climb, short and long legs, beach, contour features, I could go on. All on a tiny area mapped at 1:2000. It was blast. Thanks.
