New eyesight map reading solution?

In trying to start or generator yesterday I stamped on my brand new glasses rotating the lenses a full 90 degrees. Having bent them back as far as I dared to about 60 degrees I put them on and realised that they were absolutely perfect for orienteering. Looking downwards the map was perfectly magnified whilst the view forwards remained unobstructed.

I am sure that I will stick with contact lenses, but undoubtedly I'd be happier with this pair as an alternative than any others I've tried.
