and of those, how many are actually orienteers? - strange how the Federation deems fit to disperse with someone of the vast experience and success as Mr.A while retaining the likes of certain other Head Office staff who have no recognised orienteering under their belts..... at all????????

I'm intrigued - which of the non-orienteers on that list do you think would be better at their job if they were orienteers?

Vernon.
The effect of such a high-profile athlete taking orienteering seriously would be huge.
(note that I'm not saying any orienteer could do his job better than him)

Really, really sorry to see Derek go - the sort of experience and sense that is not easily replaceable. I strongly suspect that it won't be the last redundancy by a long chalk. It will be interesting to see where BOF's priorities will lie - obviously not with coaching.

I take your point, but it is equally true of any number of high-profile athletes who don't work for BOF.
Now there's a thought - any Premiership footballers we could lure into orienteering?

Woah!!!!!! No, no, no...... this is heading in completely the wrong direction. We can do without this misjudged analysis of BOF staff. Let's not go there!!!!!

Re: Is there anyone left at BOF?
perhaps the point being made was
would it not be better to keep the "doing orienteering" jobs rather than the administrators ?
I know, I'm so naive
can we not go where we like ?

Yes, unless they lock the thread, which can seemingly be done for no reason

Well, once the new administrator has been hired BOF will have three full-time members of "administrative" staff (two administrators and an accounts manager), against five full-time and fourteen part-time "doing orienteering" staff. Doesn't seem like a bad ratio to me, particularly given that administrators deliver a lot of the front-line services to clubs and members.

Of course we can.... but let's take a bit of time to consider the route choices!

Re: Is there anyone left at BOF?
I think having respected orienteers doing paid orienteering jobs is excellent both for ensuring the sport goes in the right direction and for making the general membership have more faith in the administrators really representing their interests.
This is one of the reasons Scott will be so difficult/ impossible to replace in the SOA.
