Locking a Public Forum

been locked?

This is a form of censorship. It is a public debating forum, I do not see anything deflamatory that ba-ba has said and certainly nothing worthy of blocking the debate.
Nic clearly feels agrieved and has voiced the grievance openly and reasonably. Disagree or agree, I cannot see a reason for locking the discussion.

I think HilaryQ has made a reasonable contribution addressing Nic's concerns. He may not agree but I fail to see a reason for locking the discussion.
I'm surprised that someone else has not objected to this draconian use of authority by the forum oppressors.

Can I second LA's opinion.
Debate was (with one minor exception) reasonably polite (even MHarky deleted expletives) and there was no slander or legal issues implied.
A statement of "the thread has run its course" by admin might be appropriate as would a statement that they wish to close the subject by the initiator but "locked" without comment does suggest censorship

I certainly felt a bit aggrieved as I'd tried to take the debate on a more general route and was expecting/hoping for some opinion following my last post - I hadn't noticed it had been locked and was wondering why no one had responded - guess we'll have to wait until some time after 3 am tomorrow to find out what Nic thinks

Perhaps Mharky's gone off to flame Blanka, and has put the NOC thread on hold until he returns to do battle with Nic..

Or maybe it was locked on the basis that the title was highly misleading, it wasn't vitriolic.
He was just trying to use a big word to dress up his petty grievance.

Nic's post has been flagged as being offensive. He does slip the F-word in at the end, but I thought it would serve better to leave it there to show how despicable and vulgar he is. You'd never catch me using bad language like that...

Blocking ba-ba's account between the hours of 12-7am on a Tuesday and Thursday morning would remove any need for censorship....

I fail to see a valid reason for locking the forum, as a frequent traveller it is sometimes one of the few things to keep you sane when in the depths of China or having had "a nice day" in the USA
