WUOC

Postby Big Jon on Sat Jul 17, 2010 9:59 pm

The World Universities team flies out to Sweden tomorrow for the races held this year in Borlange. The team is a strong one with much competition in the selection races for places. The top runners have to be Scott Fraser (medal winner 2 years ago) and Graham Gristwood, top GB perfromer in WOC last year.
This year the relay has been reduced to 3 runners and the British team has been increased to 6 men and women to allow 2 relay teams to be entered.
Check out the schedule and follow races, results etc on:

Coombsy still holding up well on the results, and Doug and Oleg look like they'll be joining him in the top 20 with the last starters going out now. Hollie looks like she'll be top 20 too.

Whatever Blanka may think, I think there are some pretty impressive results particularly in the Men.

Only Sweden and Czech get 3 runners ahead of our top 3, with only 2 Fins and 2 Norwegians ahead of our 4th placed runner :boosch:

Yup, great results today in a tightly packed field (apart from Merz!).

Wee report here and preview of the other races here

Great running by the lads today, and Hollie & Tessa too.

5 Edinburgh Uni students in the men's top 33, and 8 athletes running in total today. Good to see one of our centre's of excellence is able to produce more than 1 international athlete...

So it's the sprint race today and there's only one question to be answered:

Scotia or GG (or Merz)?

OK, I didn't check the start list. Jerker will take some beating, but I reckon our boys are up to it....

Ali McLeod just in, currently 3rd only a few seconds behind the guy who was 5th yesterday. We'll see how well that holds up as more and more come in...
