Event details and entries are both now available for the Sheffield Urban Sprint Double, which is a Nopesport Urban League race, on Saturday 4th September. This time it's near the University Sports Centre, and will be a mix of parkland and urban residential and university terrain. The 2nd race (sprint) won't be a chasing start this time.

And don't forget, the weekend is a Nopesport League double, with the Lincoln City Race on Sunday 5th September.

Decision time;
Sheffield or take juniors to the Peter Palmers?
or work out if Peter Palmers in Northants then M1 to Sheffield is possible and do both?

Re: Sheffield Urban Sprint Double
Where are the Peter Palmers?
As the Sheffield race(s) is Saturday pm. I see no problem in doing the Sheffield race before heading to the Midlands for the PP's.
The question is, will it be possible to get to Lincoln after the PP finishes? I hope so (and so will Bart).
So, we need to know where the PP is. BAOC?
and the last start time at Lincoln. LOG? Maybe a special extension for those returning from the Peter Palmers? Please....

Re: Sheffield Urban Sprint Double
I was under the impression that there was no Peter Palmer relay this year. Good news. I shall tell our captain who was asking a few weeks back.
BAOC website says "midlands".

Re: Sheffield Urban Sprint Double
The Peter Palmer Relays are definately ON and will be held at Yardley Chase, just south of Northampton. Unfortunately we have to go back to an area we used for this event a few years ago, but all the other options available to us we scuppered for one reason or another.
Flyer and entry form will be on the BAOC website in the next day or so.

Re: Sheffield Urban Sprint Double
Thanks for prompt rely Soldja Boi.
AA Routeplanner says just over 2 hours from Yardley to Lincoln, so I reckon it should be possible to do Sheffield, Peter Palmers and Lincoln (with last start at Lincoln being 1230). Bart or Lisa won't be on last leg anyway, so we can leave early if necessary.
I see a very tiring w/e coming up...

FYI:
For those travelling far afield and wanting to stay in Shef before going over to Lincoln the next day, the hotel next to Bramall Lane is currently £44 a night

If you contact Sean Harrington, race organiser (sean@logonline.org.uk), I'm sure we can hold the start window for a little longer to allow those coming from the PP to have a run.

The Peter Palmer Relays are definately ON and will be held at Yardley Chase
Yardley Chase is no longer an option for the Peter Palmers. It will still take place, it will still be on the same weekend and it will still be in the Midlands; but a bit more convenient for the weekend's urban races. Once we work out the logistics of Plan F we will get a flyer out.

Nottingham must be fairly near the route from Sheffield to Lincoln, for those of you doing the PP relays as well.

And I thought you were an orienteer Spookster!
Sheffield to Lincoln direct is about 50 miles
Sheffield to Lincoln via Nottingham is over 80 miles......
Still do-able though

Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Sheffield to Lincoln via Northampton (original PP Relay location) is about 200 miles.
So I reckon the new location is quite a lot better for reduced driving distance...

Re: Sheffield Urban Sprint Double
Is there any reason the Sheffield Urban event is not a traditional 1 race format with regular course lengths? If part of the Nopesport Urban League, shouldn't all events be in the same format?
At least it won't have the unpopular Chasing Start.

It isn't a chasing start. There are 2 separate races with the combined time deciding the final position.
