I will be running 5 races in the Czech Republic this summer and I have been told that metal studded shoes are NO GO
My INOV8 Roclite™ 315 did me fine on day 2 at Penhale - dry conditions and benign underfoot - but I switched back to VJ dobbs on day 3 after getting a big thorn right through the sole and into my foot. Not sure how Roclite would get on with "bramble filled grot in the rain" - suspect lots of slipping about and terminal damage to the uppers.
Does anyone know what the underfoot/vegetation might be in the sandstone areas around Turnov in north west Czech (80km NE from Prague) - is a protected area called "Bohemian Paradise"?
I have one chance to get some "rubber studded" o-shoes before the summer - and it seems Ultrasport only stock the "V-J Sticky" in the sans-spike version and to make matters worse - my Twisters are about due for replacement... so if I buy new rubber-only specialist O-shoes they will only ever get used in Czech. Expensive summer!

Should be clean & you'll have no problems with your Invoc shoes (
)
But I'd try to get an injection for TBE for Czech... just to be on the safe side

We went the Czech last year at Novy Bor, absolutely fantastic, forests were very clean, huge sandstone pillars, very hot 30+ every day, enjoy the pivo in the refreshment tent
I found the M40L physical due to the heat but the courses were excellent and organisation spot on. If you pm me with your email address I can scan some maps in of the areas we ran in to give you an idea of the terrain.
Watch out for the pivo (beer) race on tuesday night (i think) - 3 in a team...drink 1/2 ltr lager do course hand over to next person etc...knockout rounds ending with 4 teams in final...madness...fancy dress mandatory.
We got out TBE jabs done also but didn't see a tick all week, better safe than sorry though.
I ran in normal flyroc 310's and we were all non-dobs with not trouble.

Not al the forests there are beautifully clean, but where the undergrowth is a problem it should be okay for Innov8s.
Similarly the weather isn't invariably hot - it can be wet and cold in which case everyone will slip and slide on the steep slopes.
Whatever it is a fabulous part of the World and well worth the visit.

Re: No Dobbs in Czech "Bohemian Paradise" - Terrain Advice?
Thank you all for the info - I will save my £££ for a new pair of Twisters or similar
I am (under duress) working in Poland - right in the middle of a "Tick-B-E Zone" - and our factory is surrounded by scrub and forests - so I am up-to-date with the TBE jabs - I found a local (Solihull) clinic that would do them - but £180 for the course.
No one I have spoken to in Poland seems to have heard of TBE - sport seems mostly something you watch - most of my colleagues drive the 700m to lunch and take the lift for one floor of ascent or descent - they look upon the English (who walk) as "Fools" and find my lunchtime "Jogging" amusing. They are living in borrowed time (and mostly Pizza) - I am currently sharing my hotel with a McDonalds "Kitchen" installation team - they tell me there are big plans for Poland
