Glad to see proposal 8 being tabled by BOF ~ something I was asking for from the outset.
I would not have worded the motion in quite those terms but if adopted it removes the previous instruction from BOF that all local events should charge fees so that a BOF member discount can be applied.
As far as I can see this is something most clubs have ignored. So... common sense has prevailed.
I can see most clubs continuing to discount ( or surcharge) old style district event fees and continuing with low flat rate fees for their local events.
If we adopt Proposal 10, I would be quite happy for discounts( or surcharges) to be applied to the new level 3 events and for low flat rate fees to only apply to new level 4 events.
Less concerned about the outcome of proposal 9. We used to apply a surcharge to non-members before. Then BOF wanted us to start discounting as this was supposed to encourage people to become local members.
Either option seems to work ~ really a marketing matter.

Re: AGM Proposals 8 & 9
Re proposal 9 - surely it doesn't need to be a discount or a surcharge: why not simply say
BOF Members £8, Non-members £10 (for example)
After all, we don't say:
Entry fee £8, £6 discount for juniors
do we?
Edit: On re-reading the proposal (which I should have done before posting), it's a bit more confusing. The title suggests:
Entry fee £8 (non-members £2 extra)
but the example is more like my suggestion:
BOF members £8 (others £10)

Yes - the rules are that anyone who will be eighteen by 31st Dec this year and who has paid their BOF membership fee for this year gets one vote. Each of the individuals in a joint/family membership gets one vote each (providing they are old enough). There are no extra votes for clubs/associations/etc.
