ranking list
Congratulations to Walton Chasers for getting the Beaudesert event on the list before the end of Sunday night. Why is it that the Harlequins event at Titterstone Clee in early November has not yet been included?

Well, I see it's up now - clearly you don't know your own power
On a related theme, has there been any official announcement about the change to unified ranking lists (if so, I must have missed it) - is this happening from the new year, or what?

Re: ranking list
From Jan 2010 event results will be uploaded to the British Orienteering online results system, and that will automatically then put the data into the rankings system. It's coming very soon, and it looks good so far...

Do you have any info on acceptable results file format(s)?

Re: ranking list
Thanks Neil/Martin - so, will all existing scores be carried over (but presumably re-based to compensate for the unification)? Or will we start again?

Re: ranking list
Starting again could make the first event of 2010 unusually popular!

I gather that some algorithm exists to convert existing data.

It'll take data that can be exported from results systems commonly in use. If you can currently upload to Winsplits and Splitsbrower, then you will be able to upload to the BOF results system.

The system will have "seed" data to get it started. That may be from previous L2 and L1 events in 2009, I'm not sure.

So come to the SYO double weekend on 30/31 January - both will be counting ranking events.

Well, it looks like it'll be happening from next Thursday, 21st January. And it'll already include 2009 Ranking events.

Only registered Club Results Secretaries will be authorised to upload results into the British Orienteering website and training will commence next week.

Agree with Andy.
Don't think we have a club results secretary. How do BOF decide who this is or do they just send stuff to the bog standard secretary who I'm sure will be delighted at being given another job to do? At the moment only the treasurer, membership secretary and I can fiddle with the BOF website.

Re: ranking list
I think you can nominate whoever is most appropriate.
I guess most clubs have only one or two individuals who are generally in charge of computing, loading results to their website etc - and one of them would be the obvious choice.

Re: ranking list
To be fair to BOF, Mike Hamilton [corrected!
] did circulate a discussion document to clubs last May in which the function of a 'Cubs Results Secretary' was discussed and clubs were invited to comment. This was considered at our club committee meeting and we agreed that our Event Secretary (who loads the event details onto the BOF site) would probably take on this task if supplied with the data in the correct format from the actual event organiser/results team. We commented accordingly.
I don't know however whether our (and presumably other) clubs comments were taken into account in taking the discussed points forward.
