Not being personal about it but Penhale is a plenty good enough area for a British (yes I know it hasn't got trees) and as Graeme said there are flights available down to Exeter from various cities if you really don't want to drive.
We can't always have the British near Brum to produce the shortest average drive for the population of the UK. OK it will probably have lower attendence as a result (like when it was in NI) but that's life. If you really want to go then you'll go wherever it is.
