Dear Orienteering Friends,
COC - Clube de Orientação do Centro and GCF – Ginásio Clube Figueirense are proud to present their joint work for the greatest Portuguese orieentering event in the year 2010: Portugal O Meeting (POM) 2010
The event will take place between 13 - 16 Feb 2010 and you may check all the information at http://www.pom2010.com.
The staff (also involved in the WMOC 2008) is motivated and focused on welcoming each and every athlete, making sure everyone is having fun while competing.
The choice upon the Figueira da Foz region was based on its excellent national pine forests, where terrain details and short visibility range combine to create an unique running challenge and excellent orienteering conditions.
With good road and railroad transports available, broad lodging options, traditional gastronomy around the corner, many tourist and cultural attractions (Casino, Museums, Cinemas, Bars and Mardi Gras), excellent climate and beaches, Figueira da Foz poses all kinds of relaxing potential.
The POM 2010’s website will be frequently updated – there you’ll find lots of information about the event.
Requests for mores specific information you’d require should be sent to infopom2010@gmail.com
We’re all committed to exceed your expectations and looking forward to welcome you in warm Portugal.
See you soon!

I recommend it, although when it says "warm" that may not be the case - it can certainly freeze hard at night in that area in February. Equally it can be very warm indeed even then.

Re: Portugal O Meeting 2010 - Figueira da Foz
There's an event up in the mountains the following weekend... towards the Spanish Border. Semi open (cork oaks), lots of rock features... great orienteering & good warm weather training (assuming you travel from somewhere that is cold... plus 14 might not be warm compared to GB but for Scandis etc coming from minus 20.....)
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

Doesn't matter if it's warm as long as it's barmark. We're enjoying a snow free winter so far up here, long may it continue (I'm one of v. few in t'heim thinking this way..) Lots of sad looking rollerskiers about (non Olympic ones, the good ones have decamped long ago obv.)
