i know we wouldn't have been as competitive as other teams, but AIRE won't be sending a team either - for some reason we have a District event on the same day so everyone's doing that instead!
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.

Bok have a couple of teams. Both aimed at the handicap but that's probobly only a couple of people different than non handicap would of been (no youngsters...). So by the sounds of the enty we should do better place wise than last weekend. Handicap wise the team is very strong.

Hi Ian
It could be something also to do with the distance, the time of year, and the proximitly to other major races. I love the Harvester, but a 4-5 hour journey each way, only 2 weeks after the British Relays weekend, 1 week before Holme Fell and 2 weeks before the Scottish weekend, is simply one weekend too many. Just as well the CSC final is accessible for us (but difficult for other clubs, I'm sure) It's also plumb in the middle of SATs (probably not important for others, but they are for me) and other exams. We also circulated the top Aire juniors with a suggestion that they could be a great team for the Harvester junior trophy, and I don't think a single one responded positively. Not surprising given the proximity of exams, and those other major races.
I'm not criticising venue, date or whatever, becauee there will always be problems whenever it's on, but I think that the calendar is seriously overcrowded at this time of year, and by the very nature of the event, the Harvester will get squeezed. If it is to attract big entries, it needs to be more accessible. After all, look at the low turnout at the British Relays.
