Re: Urban Races in Britain 2010
My whistle hangs round my neck on a chord long enough to prevent it bouncing out of my O top. It's a light plastic job salvaged from my old Ottersports lifejacket of early 1970's vintage and I don't notice it at all when running.
Will check when I get home tonight and post an indication of BUOC start times to help those travelling by train. I think I can remember them correctly but would like to make sure and get it right.

Any idea which events make up this league, or where it is publicised?

Thinking about it it wouldn't be too difficult for SI or Emit to build a whistle into dibbers and brikkes and then we could be sure that all competitors had one
and if I were a plastic moulder I'm sure I could design one to clip onto a brikke....
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

As far as I am aware it will be based on all Urban events in YHOA for the year, 8 in total at the last count I believe, with 5 races to count. Don't know how it will be scored as such but I know it is well in hand. Trophies for first YHOA person in each category - based on Nopesport classes, so I'm told!

Re: Urban Races in Britain 2010
Last Thursday's YHOA committee approved the setting up of two new series of races in Yorkshire.
The Yorkshire Urban League will be co-ordinated by seabird, so I will leave him to post details here in case I get something wrong, but essentially it will uses Nopesport age classes, and will include the main urban races in YHOA.
The other series is the Yorshire O-Superleague (the name is the committee's idea, not mine!), which I am co-ordinating. This will be hosted at regional events on the association's best terrain, and will provide age class competition on the colour courses. The first two races have been agreed for Aire's event at Ilkley Moor on Feb 28th and Ebor's event in Pickering Forest on Mar 28th (the day after the Nopesport and Yorkshire Urban Leagues race in Pickering). I'll put some more details up about it on a separate thread (probably at the weekend as I'm sorting out one or two details) - this is a little off topic here!

sounds pretty cool. am I right in thinking the Yorkshire O superleague is essentially our equivalent of the SOL system? good plan if so

St Andrews looks like it should be good fun - how about planning courses to go onto the beach?

21 Feb 2010 HALO Beverley
27 Mar 2010 EBOR Pickering
23 May 2010 CLARO Ripon
31 May 2010 EBOR York
3 July 2010 EPOC Holmfirth
4 Sep 2010 SYO Sheffield
9 Oct 2010 AIRE Thornton & Haworth
10 Oct 2010 AIRE Otley
Publicity is due to be devlivered to all YHOA Clubs hopefully this coming weekend. One final matter re eligibility to resolve, but the information is otherwise ready.
I believe YHOA hope to put this information and similar info about the new O Superleague on their website. And also for that site to host the results for these leagues and YHOA Night League.
Until we are certain that will happen, as both Urban and O Superleague co-ordinators are Aire members, we will host the results at http://www.aire.org.uk and give links to the other YHOA clubs.

Exactly. I have to say the idea was stolen shamelessly!
