Everything in the Midlands was off, so we did Do It Yourself Orienteering.

Re: The Weather
Glad we stuck to our guns, had faith in the weather forecast and held the event.
Bright sunshine, rapidly melting ice - most of the snow having already been reduced to water, consequently a little soggy underfoot. Everyone I spoke with enjoyed the courses and their day in the New Forest.
Later collecting in controls in the rapidly fading light of the afternoon, I got the feeling of returning the forest and heath to the resident animals - the deer ponies, and pigs until next year; a matter of a month to our next event. I hope the weather is as good to us on the 9th Jan.

SOC123 - sounds great - I can't believe I missed it. I would normally have been there but had to go for a trot round Trent Park armed with a pen and a roll of tape. A lovely sunny day and dry underfoot, the lakes were still frozen and it was just serene - what a great sport we have!
hop fat boy, hop!

Re: The Weather
The snow maze worked well. The photo shows the problems of overtaking which added to the fun - I should have built in passing places. Results on Ebor website.

Re: The Weather
well at the risk of provoking Kitch's wrath I must report that it is stunningly beautiful here today. Freezing fog overnight has transformed everything into Narnia (including the originals for C S Lewis' gas lamp) and at the top of the hill the views of the British Camp are amazing no wonder Caratacus chose it for his last stand against the Romans. it's behind the tree in this picture I took with my phone yesterday afternoon. The only other people up there were a bunch of foresters - well I think that's what they were - they might have been any old bunch of blokes who like wearing hard hats and sitting round a camp fire come to think of it
