Re: CompassSport Cup Final
Despite being from NOC and running in Blidworth a number of times I'd never competed in Sansom Wood. On picking up the map I looked at the 'fight' on a old mapped I'd looked before hand I knew that it was mapped as 'Forest Walk' so decided to go for it hoping it wasn't now fight due to thick brambles. I picked off the small thicket (holly bush) just before the fight so I knew I was going through the smallest area of fight to come out straight on the path bend. I did, it was a bit of a fight but when the adrenelin is going its not too bad and then spicked the control. Winning at No1 but it was downhill from there.

[quote="Carnage Head"]I think that the route choice at the start of the Brown course was worth having.
What interests me too is the route choice from 15 to 16: I think that the best route was to turn NW at the first block of green, then sharply to the E, then zig-zag along the paths, but did anyone take the dirt road / track to the E, then turning N down and up the dip? (No-one on Route Gadget did, I don't think.) If so, was it worth it? (Perhaps not, if the track was sandy.)

It was definately best to cut through the forest initially by control 27, I spotted the control on the way through to help later on. The forest was pretty good running and certainly better than running around the paths. I decided not to cut through the next bit of forest but I'm told that was decent running also so may have been quicker.
