I can sense myself repeating what others have just posted, but who cares
Awesome event, great map, great weather, great course, one gobsmacking mistake by yours truly, but I suspect that comments about the big wall mean I wasn't the only one. Possibly not quite as complex as Scarborough, but some sections to compare with the best urban racing I've ever done. I hope it isn't sacrilege to say it was better than York, but the climb and those bridges/underpasses literally gave another dimension to the route choices. Good effort by the select band who put this on. 600 miles made a mess of my carbon footprint, but I suspect I've still got more credit than Madonna

Hello!
Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I am happy how the event turned out and would like to thank Patrick Walder for mapping a chunk of Glasgow out of love for the sport.
There are some photos online

We hope to extend the map even further and there are plans for the Glasgow 2012 commonwealth orienteering champs!
Gross: Dont get me started on the delights of Falkirk. A commuter town with a big wheel?
Cheers,
Ally.

Apologies for the thread drift.
I've not done any of these street races so apologies if this is a daft question but one thing puzzles me. In normal 0 when there is a big road crossing there are manned crossing points, risk assessment forms, time allowances etc. How do you get away with it for an event where you are constantly crossing roads?
Does this explain the low turnout, a fear of being flattened by crazy Glasgow motorists?

None of the roads being crossed were busy roads, more residential streets. The one big road we 'crossed' was planned so we went under it rather than across it (10-11). I guess the same road *could* have been crossed later on but I didn't take that route so can't really comment.
I was more in fear of getting knifed/glassed than getting run down, with it being glasgow. (sorry for the negative glasgow thing, I'm an east-coast person
