So then the elite women will beat you & therefore following your logic you shouldn't run

Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

Stockholm City Cup format does vary year to year. In 2004 it was 4 races (all easily accessible by tunnelbahn -subway trains) and then a fifth & final event. On the final evening (all wednesday evenings) the top 8 senior elites from the series ran semi-finals mass start with butterfly loops.
Then there was an open race which i guess at least 400 people took part in, 15 second start interval with 30secs between people on the same course, just like all the others in the series.
After the open race the top 2 from each semi final got to run the final. Which again was mass start with butterfly loops. The butterfly loops were round the arena where all the open race participants/spectators were. It was quite intimidating lining up with just 3 others with so many people watching and a unique experience within my time orienteering. We also got decent prize money, again, quite rare, i've made a lot more money in running than orienteering....even if I am probably a slower runner than "Adventure Racer".
But yeah SCC only 4 guys and girls made it to the final... Axel wouldn't have liked it.

Thanks Becks and Harry. Sounds brilliant. Just playing round with ideas, but looking at the website, the final race is during my half term, so may yet be after more info (but might need a major bank loan given all the other O that we're planning to do this spring/summer, which looks to be one of the best domestic seasons yet).

You've obviously never tried it then.
Rocky organised a set of ~1km head-to-head, butterfly-loop races with a knockout format in a little quarry in Edinburgh. If you have a sharp map, its a brilliant format!

I can't see anywhere in my posts that I've mentioned prizes. In fact its the most furthest thing on my mind, to date my most prestigous award for many years of competing has been a china mug. Without seeming to ungrateful to the event that presented it to me I can assure you I do not travel the length and breadth of the UK to win a cupboard full of china mugs.
However I am a competive beast who if need be will take on any standard of runner whether it be elite, M21 or any other class grouping. I'm not suggesting different course length or any other concessions for any age grouping. Except and this is my point I would like to see how I fair against a like wise age band even if this incorporates a broad veteran class from M40 and upwards. In this day and age of IT magic it should not be difficult to produce this information. Even if its produced in just three general classes junior, elite and veteran. You want competitors to support a series of events then work on their competive nature and give them a reason to get off their backside by producing a table with a position you never know it might just tempt them back again to improve their standing.

Apologies I tarred the Middle Distance Champs with the same brush as the Brit Elite Sprint Champs without reading the detail.
Awk,
I believe I attended the last 3 Brit Sprint Champs or at least I did if they were the events that were staged at Ham Hill, Sandhurst and Milton Keynes and they were class events and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. My gripes is that by now BO they should have got their act together and made it a true championships for all.

I thought that was what the British Sprint Championships was. One class open to everyone. What truer Championships can you ask for ?

Ah lovely Axel has volunteered to do some "IT Magic". You can put him down for setting up the start, taking entry on day, entering details into the computer, running the start, standing at the finish, downloading, collecting controls and dismantling the club tent -oh and while your at it put him down for a run too.
Don't like it? keep quiet or actively do something about it like organising the "Axel B British All Inclusive Sprint Series For Everyone Even You".
Tosh I tell you....

Don't goad him, Nails, he's quite capable of doing all that and more! You obviously haven't been to any Southern Area midweek army events.

I'll 'Goad' him if i want. Maybe he is capable of doing all this and maybe he isn't -i don't frickin care. Just because he can doesn't mean he should expect that all this is done for him... don't fricking wink at me either.

Nopesport is much more interesting when Nails is shooting from the hip!
Anyone easily offended beware, he says it like he sees it and it makes him entertaining and contraversial, and we've needed a bit of that on NOPE recently...
Mrs H beware - we don't want you to hibernate again because of receiving a Nails tirade!
Keep up the entertainment Nails - let's hope you're not moderated out!
