Which meant that a (tiny) majority didn't. (Or, perhaps to be fairer, there is no evidence from this that a majority do want it).

Remember awk, this race was probably 50% over 'guideline' (and the second day of a multi-day event). You might find more support for something in between.

People tend to accept what they're given. Give them something else, and they may well like it better.
Why not try it a few times, like Axel suggests, and see what the reaction is?

The main problem I have running down is the map scale
with my eye sight even with glasses on I have great difficulty in reading ther fine detail on a 1:15,000 map.

If its raining heavily as it was at Holmbury today I just run and hope and invariabley miss a control or do something stupid as I did today. However even though the course was well planned, I still feel the course was to short.

I love Guest88's suggestion - it would be nice if thi were tried at an event I could get to. AWK's point is right in a way, but fails to take on board that fundamentally we are competitive beings. For me plodding round an Elite course is fun, but lacks any real competitve element as I am SOOO far behind the young stars of today.

I also love sprint races, and enjoy all the variety. It' just that if I go to a regional/ national I want what I am supposed to get - (in fact I want more, but that would require a rules modification).

In case it sounds as though I am moaning, I really love almost every event whatever shortcomings it may have, and I really appreciate all the effort that goes into them.
