Presumably if the organizers can make carrying a kagool (unlikely to provide much protection against extreme weather) compulsory, they could make carrying some water (or some other drink) compulsory.
Would anyone be in favour of that?

I'm not to sure of the requitements of 'long' fell races, but i think fluid mayb be in there, along with body cover, map, emergancy rations whistle and compass.
Personally I am against the enforcement of emergency equipment carrying.

i don't think it should be compulsory for the organisers to provide water at the finish on all events.maybe british and jk but for smaller events a notice saying it's not going to be there is enough.if you think your going to be that desperate for a drink at the finish drop a bottle off before you go to the start.

No, everything else but not fluid.
Personally I think as much as possible should be left to individual choice/responsibility, since everyone's different. It did seem a pity not to have some water and a few bottles of squash at download though as people like to stop and chat rather than dash back to their cars.
