I agree, well done HALO, that was a great race. I loved the laptops in the marquee, a great touch, lets hope we get that at every harvester from now on.
Well done to ShUOC, it was a close battle, but there was no way we could beat the logic, it went
1 ShUOC
2 EUOC
3 ShUOC
4 EUOC
5 ShUOC...
hmm we were starting to see a pattern. nice to see uni clubs at the top, and a distinct lack of INT, on of the best harvester clubs over the past few years.
thanks again to HALO

They had those at last year's Harvester as well, so it seems to have become an annual feature already - it certainly adds to the spectacle of the race and makes following it much easier during the night.
Overall an excellent well-organised and enjoyable event, thanks to HALO.

That was ducking quality. Best relay excitement ever...well in Uk anyway. Great to see uni dominance of the relay league. A very close battle..and as Harrison said...it came down to the last leg.... quality. Harvester is normally out of reach by leg 7!
Rekon craney will be a little jealous that he wasn't about... though don't suppose Japan was a bad alternative.
Thanks to HALO for good courses and not too many bingo controls....in a forest of Bingo controls. And biggest thanks to EUOC boys.... that was wicked racing.

Agree great event, the innovations introduced last year have certainly added to the atmosphere.
Double prize giving was also a good idea. Although the leaders finished at 6:22 (somewhat later than previous predictions on Nopesport of a 5:30 finish) there was still some interesting racing going on in the Handicap competition some 2 hours behind.
Finally totally unbiased congratulations to SO juniors for retaining their trophy, and for only being a few minutes behind the elite SYO ladies team.
Probably two big a gap in the end, though Jenny Peel did come close to getting beaten by our M12.

Out of interest does anyone know how many junior teams there were this year? I wasn't at the event and its difficult to tell from the results on the web which category teams were competing in.
Would also like to know which teams were ladies and handicapped.
Did Jonathan really only wear one shoe or is it a wind-up?

I think it had J's and W's on the results that were posted on the day but maybe not on the ones online.
From the top of my head, the junior teams were SO, NOC, WAOC (Moths), and ?HH?.

Hopefully Mike Napier will add these to the results in due course. I can only remember those that directly affected us but.
A course
Handicap: MDOC, SO, OD, HH, SOC + others
B course
Junior: Just SO, HH, WAOC Moths and NOCompetition
Ladies: Can't remember - SYO, So Girly and FVO Female Flyers obviously
Handicap: No idea I'm afraid
Jonathan's skills at orienteering don't extend to tying shoelaces. Shoe came off just a couple of controls from the end, obviously inspired by seeing clips of Brian Whittle on Question of Sport.

Showing your age! Oh and mine

Great race put on by HALO at short notice - probably the fastest I've ever run at night even allowing for my inability to find one of the knolls

I think with larger relays things might become problematic. With just two relays (essentially) it was pretty easy to keep track of things, and your runners stayed on screen for a relatively long time (except for Niall who went missing for a while and scared Ian
). It was never too crowded as well. At somthing like the JK it would be impossible to keep track of things, and people could be on and off the screen in the manner of a few minutes, there would also be a lot of people pushing to geta look in.
Maybe they could build a nice big screen for us.

Mharky's concerns could be overcome by having specific connected controls for different courses. Each control having a different screen and therefore representing either different courses or a couple of courses.
