WCOC hope to use the sprint courses for one of their Thursday evening events in the early autumn so if you are local you might not want to see those maps just yet.
On the other hand I suspect prior knowledge still won't enable us to beat those times!

Re: WOC and WUOC test races
I have noticed, on the Sprint and Middle maps, posted by Murray and GG that
there is a fair amount of "wear", aka flaking, of the colours. The Long map looks, to my
aged eyes on an almost as aged screen, fairly pristine and the printer owns up to
having produced it (unlike the other 2 maps)

I am very sceptical that the long map that GG has posted has seen any action in the terrain. It looks like a fresh copy to me.

What's that got to do with the printer Eddie?

I know that I'd have have been faffling about stopping to look at the map and so on but these guys just ran past the control and barely slowed to punch. As for the map they appeared to be constantly reading it ( I'd be running into brick walls if I tried that) and whilst they appeared unhurried they were actually covering ground at a phenomenal rate. Impressive!
Nice description of 'elite' orienteering. If any Nopesters haven't had the chance to spend time in the forest (or town) watching these guys or girls its well worth it.
The apparent effortlessness is a function of hundreds of hours of practice over many years and as you say you need to try it yourself to realise how skillfull they are.
Well done for volunteering - I'm sure the athletes appreciated the efforts of the local clubs.

Re: WOC and WUOC test races
practice like this from Murray yesterday (did this give away he may have got 'the call'?):
Rather than joining James for some 'hill' reps on MMW I did some sprint simulation work round quartermile. ─┘┌─ shaped reps with "punches" at each turnaround and in the middle. These punches were the hole in the middle of each ashtray on the top of a bin - exactly the size of an SI hole. Stinky fingers & odd looks but a fairly effective session!

We definitely did. It was great to see so many people out ensuring the fairness & success of the race.

Nope, I was still hanging in limbo. Rumour has it I might be running the European Champs next weekend so it seemed like a good idea to get some practise in, just in case.

I'm not sure what the big secret is. The team for EOC was 'pre-selected' in October with all Elite Development and Elite Performance Squad members getting a run. I suspect it's just an oversight that there has been no formal announcement on the BO website.
Until now...

Re: WOC and WUOC test races
I'm interested to know why the team announcement was only the day before the event?
Why the secrecy, or was it just an oversight?

Re: WOC and WUOC test races
it was posted up on #goldin2015 last week, but as has been pointed out, was known to the squad last October - just not announced publically (I had to text a squad member friend to find out what was going on with WOC selections/EOC, coz I'm nosey and all)
