I haven't sealed it yet as we didn't have any handy. Will need to go to b&q for some. The card seamed to be clipped together. A little prising with a small screwdriver got it apart. We haven't re-soldered the contacts onto the battery but they seem to be ok with the pressure from shutting the card. I'll take some photos and post them before we seal it all up.

Oh and yes, just a standard cr2032 battery, available in most supermarkets.

Allan Farrington of EMIT UK said at today's BAOC event that they will soon be offering battery-replacement. Rather than prising the card open (which can damage the LCD screen on V3 cards) they are developing a custom jig to drill in just the right places.

We put our gear to freezer. over night -20C, if gear (battery) works at that temperature it will do yet an other summer or set of events. If not, replace it (and check warranty).
