Can anyone give an example of olive being used on an ISOM map, where you were allowed to run though it?

The Ludlow map is an ISSOM map and the area you are talking about is an old disused and very overgrown graveyard.

There is a legitimate path which goes through this old graveyard but it is not very distinct on the ground hence it being mapped as an indistinct path. The club obviously doesn't want orienteers running over the old graves. Can you think of a better way to depict it?

Going back to the original question of the olive green, ISOM and ISSOM approach the symbol in two different ways.

In ISOM Settlement is described as 'Houses and gardens and other built up areas' - no mention at all of it being out of bounds. In the UK it is an unwritten rule that it is OOB but elsewhere it isn't.

In ISSOM it is described as 'Area with Forbidden Access' which is explicit.

I believe that in the revised ISOM 201x the two symbols will be brought into alignment and it will be called Settlement/ Area with Forbidden Access which will clarify the issue.

Most Swedish ISOM maps have Cottages/houses/flats on them, with olive green gardens. Many maps are extracts of larger maps and have no legend so there is no clear OOB statement - also not normally explicitly stated where a legend. But one would treat these olive green areas as OOB and not run through them.
Where it's a bit of adjoining forest or land, where boundary is also probably not clear on the ground, then it would not be olive green but mapped as normal with purple ( or black) stripe overprint used.
