Fortunately a couple of km west of our event but we might have to pass his hut on the way from Brodie Castle to Dyke Village Hall. Fascinating stories if you read up more about this Clan.

I believe this will block access to parking for Nairn East Beach which is a regular O venue for INVOC.

I also note (and don't take this wrong anyone -I'm in favor) that the event is being publicised on the BOF website and that seems to be a change of policy perhaps as when we asked for support publicising an event we got a "we only promote BOF events"- as MrsH did for Springtime in Shropshire.
BUT maybe Moray is subject to a profit (but not loss) share agreement?

When it comes to news, British Orienteering generally publish anything you send them (within reason). So whilst they don't necessarily go looking for stuff to promote if whoever is doing the publicity for the event send stuff it's got a good chance of getting published.
That probably applies to most places/websites, generally it's the responsibility of the event to promote itself.

The problem British Orienteering have is the same faced by every club newsletter and website, not enough people write stuff and submit it for publication. I'm not sure if the current trend towards short 100-200 character messages and an assumed short attention span has lead to people not being able to write a few paragraphs of interesting text anymore.

I asked BOF to advertise entries open for Moray 2013. The fact that it will also incorporate Euromeeting (which will have a British Orienteering team) does make the event fit the "relevant" criteria. There is likely to be an article in Focus as well - this will cover some aspects of the event not previously done (including a bit about the promo video if I remember what I wrote at the time). The 6 Day has of course previously generated substantial amounts that have been paid into the multi-day levy and hence onwards to development.

The Chief Executive of Parkour UK wrote to me to say "It's great to see Parkour / Freerunning incorporated and used in Orienteering". Maybe we can tap into a whole new market here - they are probably used to slightly jumpy Go Pro images.

I think between Freefall's and my posts you can work out how it qualifies (but let's test the envelope as time goes on in case we have events that also qualify)

The interesting thing is that someone told me that the organisers or next year's BOC were told not to advertise in CompassSport - now exactly how does that further the interests of the sport ? Also I have quite recently been "leaned on" by a BOF employee regarding something I wrote (which they agreed was true but they didn't like).

BOF seems to be exercising an element of control which must be beyond their remit. (and don't give me the old "we are BOF" crap I'm quite sure these things were never discussed in any committee)

Trouble is if I "leaned on" Lynden physically she'd fall over but I can't think of many people more likely to react firmly against coercion than MrsH. I also think that much of what she says is in the best interests of the sport (important "much" there!)
