D3: Craig a Barns

Start Times: 10am to 2pm

Elite start times
These will be based on reverse order of day two results, ie with fastest starting last. Start interval is 3 minutes. The 18E and 20E age groups are treated as a single class and have a combined start list. They will be published on this website on Saturday evening and at the Ceilidh.

So my best guess is that the last M/W, junior (18+20) and 21 elites start at 2pm, based on Saturdays position with a 3 minute start interval.

I decided to email the JK organising team for an answer. From the responses I've seen so far it sounds like they haven't got a firm plan yet, including not knowing how to address the fact that 84 entrants on M21E on day 3 doesn't fit into a 4 hour start block with 3 minute starts (e.g. do they use 2 mins starts for early starters, or extend start block earlier, or extend it later). Anyway, they are debating it, and said they'd update the website with the plan when they know what it is.

I would be surprised that there isn't a plan, but I am not sure of the details myself! News from the scene today is that Dunalastair looks terrific in the snow but that the parking fields at Craig a Barns are clear.

If anyone would like to lend a hand setting up at Dunalastair on Thursday morning they would be most welcome. There will be some further work at Craig a Barns later.

Four hours will accommodate 81 start times.
Very unlikely that all 84 entrants will actually turn up at the weekend.

Will it be easy to find the assembly area/drive to it on thursday?

Very easy to find - take Calvine turn off and head around west side of area as per programme. Turn left up towards Home Farm. We will be there from about 9.

No it won't. If X people have entered the race on Sunday, then you have to put X people on the start list for Sunday. Regardless of whether they have completed day 2. If they were entered for day 2 and didn't start, didn't finish or were DSQ, you still have to put them in the start list of day 3, albeit in the first few slots.

They have to allocate start times to everyone who entered. The Saturday DNS will go off first. All they need to decide is whether to assign the probably-non-existent runners starttime before the first official start, or give them 2 min intervals.

It's very cold but at least the sun is out (at the moment) to get rid of the snow. At least it's to get warmer over the next few days

I have noted in the past that as competitors we are not very good at giving - and as organisers not very good at using - information about runners who have pre-entered but who are not attending.

It would be useful to know of any runners, elites in particular, who will not be enjoying sunny Perthshire this weekend. pm me if you like.
