Japanese girl at APOC in Hong Kong who fell into a 6 foot deep pit covered with vegetation!

Before anyone says it - having planned on a (similar sounding) military training range to Day 2 a year or two back with dozens of wood lined trenches, some covered with vegetation - these features are not solely the preserve of the Far East. That said, nobody fell in one or had need to use a whistle.

By the way, is the absence of a map available prior to the event the reason Day 2 isn't a WRE? Anyone run there - what other UK area is it most like?

I have attended numerous mountain rescue call outs where we have been able to locate the casualty/missing person through the use of their whistle, we have homed in from >1km the sound of a whistle carries a long distance in the mist and dark.
However orienteering is in a pre defined area so an organised search would not take too long and someone shouting would raise attention.The problem would be if someone has strayed off the map and then got injured but that raises complety different logistical problems.
It would be interesting to know if anyone has had to wait a long time for help after being injured on an orienteering event

Does the 5 pages of "welcome" really belong in the Final Details? Would it be better on the website or actually at the event?

Sorry to disappoint that were are 99,995 pages short on the welcomes.
