Just out of interest Spookster - and anyone else who did the double last weekend - which event did you enjoy the most?

I spoke to a few people who'd done both and although they didn't answer your question directly they all said I missed a treat on Sunday as it was a fabulous unique event on a very unique map! I'd guess they would say Sunday...

Carlisle had a great map, and good planning making best use of the challenging parts of the city. I had a reasonable run, and enjoyed it a lot.

The Blodslitet was a challenge, rather than something I "enjoyed". I wore Walshes (which were hopeless on the wet limestone), nearly broke my ankle twice getting stuck down cracks in the limestone, made a horrendous navigational mistake at control 8 (which ensured I was well and truly dropped by the pack), and then ran most of the race on my own. But it was a long-O race (of which there aren't many), and a memorial event, so I was determined to finish. Enjoyment, not really, but rewarding, yes!

Sunday - it was brilliant. But I wasn't anywhere near any pack.

Having just checked my place in the ranking I noticed that I had a green +1 next to my position which I took to mean that my position had improved by one place However I now think that it means that I have dropped a place If this is correct, wouldn't it be better if the positive changes (giving a worse ranking position) were in red and the negative changes in green?

Green and + means you've gone up in the rankings, Red and - means you've dropped places

otherwise Alastair Buckley 54 +803 wouldn't make much sense...

(such a massive leap is possible because previously he had only 5 rankings scores)

I'm assuming that as the rankings list updates every thursday, the reference point for the plus or minus move is your position the previous week...however, if extra events were to be uploaded from 2009 (like say, the British Age Class sprints), then maybe this would cause intermediate updates, not sure if these would be picked up in the same way

Thanks for the clarification - I was confused becuase I was sure my position last week was one higher than now but it states +1. I must have missed another update in between (which presumably was -2 ). Oh well, at least I am heading in the right direction now!

ummm... difficult one.

I would probably have to say the Blodslitet. Although I really enjoy urban orienteering, I still prefer 'proper' orienteering as Darwin would call it.
Great weekend of contrasts though. Thanks BL and SROC.
