Re: EOC 2008
I was away at the weekend but am surprised that no comment has been made about the relays. At the very worst the results are extremely encouraging.
Brilliant run from Sarah. But what abouthe men's team? Just off the podium, but with tight times a really good effort, and dare I say it, it looks as though had runs been a little more perfect 2 minutes faster is quite possible and that's a medal.

Re: EOC 2008
Sarah's run was amazing, nice way for her to end a really impressive week.
The guys all ran really well even if each of them may feel they could have done even better. Check out their mpks & then look at the maps and realise how much detail & sand running there was. Wingstedt's time was insane. Our guys are definitely capable of a relay medal but the men's competition is so tight that they probably need a little luck on the day as well. The team was changed about a bit, I'm sure that was the best line up on the day but without injuries the 2nd team could have been just as strong.
The Czech coach commented that the demands of the terrain will be so different at WOC that it will be like a different sport. I think Anders Norberg will be glad of some different challenges, 43rd in the long distance and then he retired from the middle distance as he couldn't find his "number 4 from hell". Terrain to respect when someone like Norberg jacks because he can't find a control!!!!

Assuming GBR actually enter WOC. According to the entries table on the WOC page they have 5 team officials going but no one actually entered:

(I'm sure it's an oversight somewhere or other...)

WOC 2008 online entry system didn't work for a number of teams; ours was the last to be sorted, a team will be going.
Good luck to everyone at the weekend

Re: EOC 2008
Yep the Euro's from Britains point of view looked to be successful.
Obviously Scotts result was fantastic, perhaps the best British individual performance by a male after Jamies set of top results. Think it proves once again Dave Peel was dead right to let him run more than 1 discipline at last years WOC. The boy's on a learning curve which doesn't seem to plateua out, great stuff.
Perhaps most pleasing was Oli's alround performance. It's probably tougher competition at EOC so he should be well on the way to smashing his P.b's at WOC. Will be difficult for him not to be selected now regardless of the how he runs at the selection races.
As for WOC I'd pretty much preselect Jamie,Scott and Oli.
GG probably needs to give a small form indication.
JD and Craney will have to place at the selections to guarantee selection.
Reckon Speaky and maybe Ewan are the hottest to upset the party.
Would be great to be fighting for medals in the relay again.......
