The answer to the question is yes. 60 teams have entered.

Re: will the harvesters be more popular this year?
Can someone answer this question. Julia is a full paid up member of BAOC (closed club) and a local member of SARUM. She has competed for SARUM in the BOC and JK relays this year but they are not entering a junior team in the Harvester this weekend, because of this is she allowed to compete competitively for a BAOC team in the Harvester Handicap competition?
If she isn't is there any team out there that is running non competitively thats got a vacancy on one of the daylight legs and needs a runner?

I had a similar question recently, and eventually found what I think is the relevant bit of the BOF Rules:
3.2 Club Representation
3.2.1 A competitor shall only compete for the open and / or closed club which is indicated on their British Orienteering membership card for that year.
So it sounds as though she could compete for BAOC. Hope this helps.

Axel - yes, she can for the reasons stated above - as an example, many students have run for their home (open) club and uni (closed) club in the same year.

to echo the others, yes she can compete for BAOC.
the only restriction is regarding the UK Relay League (which may in this case not be relevant anyway). You can only run competitively for one club each year (the first one you run for) so the BAOC team in this case could not score points in the UKRL (if they were in the right class etc. anyway), but are still competitive for the Harvester itself.

I've not been able to replace a late injury in one of our B class teams so if anyone fancies a run in a n/c team on the final lap let me know (PM or e-mail the SO club captain from http://www.southdowns-orienteers.org.uk/index/info/contacts). Suitable for an elite night runner who wants to have a look at the terrain in the daytime. No charge.

It may well be true that non-handicap teams are welcome, but that isn't what the web site implies. But I think the problem is not so much trying to get a team of five as trying to get two people prepared to run night legs, one of which is TD5 and 7km. I know this was the issue that prevented my club putting a team together a few years ago.

Initially we had the opposite problem (but in the end we had enough for a full team). Have a look at the Kent Night Cup format. Get something similar going in your area and you might find you get more volunteers for the night legs. Alternatively, if neighbouring clubs could combine you might find one club has all the night runners, and the other had all the day runners.
Excellent event - thanks to the organisers.

Harvester 2009 ??
Whilst you are all thinking about the Harvester it is worth mentioning that no club has volunteered a firm bid for 2009 and onwards to host the event.
One club has intimated they are thinking about it.
So if you are interested please contact your Association Fixture Secretary with an offer
Thanks
