At the end of the day he has no more advantage there than i did at sallowvallets at the JK, an area i hadnt run on for 3 years, but still had a fairly indepth knowledge about the best route choices

There is scope for common sense to be applied. A single visit to Scarborough or Warwick University would not breach the embargo so long as no atempt was actively made to gain an advantage. Agreed, common sense does need to be applied, I think it's easy to see the extremes- visited once versus living on campus; but I'd gues that there are intermediate situations and it would be interesting to see how those are interpreted.

The BOC 2008 area is mostly completely new to orienteering - with just a short section at the end of the courses on this year's 6-day map. The area is the white section under Steve's left hand.

More importantly, is the embargoed area really "the whole of Culbin Forest", i.e. all the way to Nairn, or just the eastern half of the forest as described by the grid references "from NH985605, north to NH970625, east to NJ035650, south to NJ030625", i.e. the new area and most of the "Culbin West" map?

The "whole of Culbin" means the whole area bounded by the grid references in the programme info - sorry for any confusion.

so does that mean we are ok to run our course at the 6 day but anything apart from that is not allowed? or does it include the 6day courses?

Lizi - I take it to mean that you can run your 6 day course, but (almost?) all of that map will be embargoed the moment you finish. The "new" area to the east is already embargoed. However, the western half of Culbin Forest i.e. the area to west of the line "from NH985605, north to NH970625", which stretches several miles to the outskirts of Nairn is not embargoed.

Hmmmm. . . . .

I think Eddie et al would be best advised to keep out of the area from now on - treat Gross' comments as a 'shot across the bows', so to speak. I think the club run was excuseable at the time, but now that this 'simplification' of the rules has been aired it would be putting two fingers up to what is obviously an outright ban, if anyone were to run on the tracks again.
