Capercaillie are an issue after 1 March though there is some of Loch Vaa available over the railway line. Inshriach definitely no go but Uath Lochans possible.
Fac et Spera. Views expressed are not necessarily those of the Scottish 6 Days Assistant Coordinator

The "two-days from one location" worked well.
A WRE Middle distance elite race seems like what's needed for spring 2017 (BMOC being punted to the autumn) - maybe combined with a SOL to make the finances work? I'm a little nervous that the elite programme becomes divorced from the mainstream at a time when elite funding is so tight.
Assuming you want a good elite field, the main problem is that April/May is so crowded already, many top areas are Capercaillied out, and most weekends are already booked. From an elitish Scots viewpoint what's registered already...
Mar 5 Clyde SOL1
Mar 12 CompassSportcup
Mar 25 Midland Champs/UKOL & FVO SOL
Apr 16 JK
Apr 23 SOLWAY SOL
Apr 29 Tiomila
May 6 BOC
May 14th SOL
May 27th Scottish champs + World Cup
So start of April looks like an option, though Englanders have Interland and two level-B's on those weekends.
WOC2024 Edinburgh
Test races at SprintScotland (Alloa/Falkirk) and Euromeeting (near Stirling).

This seemed to work for Tullochroisk/Dunalastair last year, but that was helped by the foreign teams preparing for WOC2015.
Is there interest in a WRE classic long (or a non-WRE classic long) as part of a SOL? It took some discussion to fit classic length M/W21E courses into the SOL format and scoring system, but that is something that can be looked at. As a planner it didn't take much extra effort, though the courses would have been better if it had always been the intention to make them long rather than a last minute retrofit.

And quite a lot of planners & controllers in Scotland will be busy preparing the S6D 2017 around that time. Not an issue in 2018 if you want to book dates further ahead

Rumour has it there's something else coming in 2018.

We'll see - INVOC are advertising a full-on classic at affric (though its less than 80% long as WOC)

... eight men and two women have signed up so far. Given also the poor field at BOC, I fear we're diluting the competition over too many events.
