Re: Splits Printouts
We now have a local Wifi network at our Saturday morning Level D events so I don't think that the infrastructure needed is too demanding, and it interfaces well with Autodownload. Personally I'm in the same boat as Greywolf and Scott but have used a small laptop at past major events to pick up live results - can't remember whether these were SI/MERCS/ANOther.

Re: Splits Printouts
There was a local network set up at the British Sprints at Loughborough a couple of years back. My memory of it was that it couldn't cope with the number of connections and that you needed to be near the results room to stand a chance of getting connected.
As to getting a page of splits these are difficult to read on a large computer screen as the the name column and splits heading row aren't frozen when scrolled. It would be very difficult to compare splits on a small screen.
Most of the time I look at the splits printout to confirm how bad some legs were, but 2 days ago in Oxford it was useful to compare with another competitor (who I beat by less than 60 seconds) how we compared and where we gained or lost time on each other. This wouldn't have been as easy to do in the evening once the splits were on the web.

Here we often download twice, think the first time goes into the system and the second prints the splits. If this is easy to set up then optional printing of splits would seem like a good option.

But if you follow that link then by default you see the M12 class which only had two runners, so yes, it was easy. Maybe there's a feature of splitsbrowser that I haven't found, but how would you display the splits for just a couple of runners from a much larger class? For example, Peter Jones and Marcus Bateman in the M40 class, who don't appear on the screen at the same time even on a desktop machine.

Re: Splits Printouts
You print out the entire sheet, then cut out all the split times individually and sellotape in order to a small piece of paper. Do this twice individually for each runner and you have two lists of split time that you can easily compare. I have no idea what you are complaining about!

I'm not entirely sure why you'd want to compare just two runners, but it's really not that hard. There's even enough space for a rather unspectacular race graph.

Isn't that exactly what you'd want to do if you were in the pub after the event discussing your runs? OK, I see that you can do it in a rather clunky way on a desktop (wouldn't you have to scroll each window separately to see the later splits, and then try to keep them in step?), but not so easy on a small mobile screen. Give me the printouts every time!

I like this idea, or even a separate computer at the exit just for splits printing

I love splitsbrowser but not all events upload to this. Why not?

It is just another task to do after the event - and I prefer Winsplits Pro. You will be happy to know that it SOL1 is now on Splitsbrowser.andypat wrote: Why not?
We were transmitting the results of SOL1 for those who looked. Various people have producing instructions on their to-do listmharky wrote:Local wifi network

Cheers! I wondered if there was a cost for it.
