I think that's you not RG.
If you look at Daisey's Wood event the apostrophe shows correctly.
I suspect that the event title was copy/pasted from a Word document rather than typed in, and that's where it's come from.

I don't think it's me. The event title was originally typed in by me from the keyboard. I've just tried editing the title and it's still the same. Even after I copied and pasted from the Daisy's Wood event title. It stubbonly refuses to show the apostrophe. The title does show correctly in RG1

I've noticed a minor problem, if the name of the event name includes an apostrophe the event title looks gibberish (it shows the html code ' instead of the ' )

I can't reproduce it here. If you can email me the kisat.txt file from the kartat directory then I can have a look at it.

A new version is now running on the HH site and is available for download. Changes since what you may have seen previously:

1. Icon in top left corner allows you to show or hide the info panel. This, plus some adjustment to map positioning, mean you may now at least be able to see the map on a phone. Further work ongoing to relocate various buttons.
2. Splits can now be viewed for selected runners.
3. Replay starting from selected control.
4. Comments (if any entered) can be viewed if you hover over runners on the results tab.

Well I've now uploaded the latest version and the problem has cured itself for the first King's event in the list. Now seems to happen with the King's event further down the list where it was OK before. I suppose it could be my browser (IE9) causing it.

Excellent! Many thanks for implementing this - it's great fun! Have yet to find a really classic long leg on the HH events list to test this fully however, but I've only looked at Burnham Beeches and Ashridge so far ...

Simon has made good job And putting it all at one point to github and letting others fix bugs and adding features will make it awesome.

Come the 4G revolution and the new Garmin watches that connect to your phone via bluetooth, we could be uploading GPS routes from the assembly field as soon as we finish...

No need to wait garmin or 4G, standard procedure for me and some others had been for quite some time downloading track from gps over BT to smart phone, taking picture of map with smart phone's camera, making quickroute style track overlay using phones's touch screen and posting it to DOMA (and Attackpoint) - right after finishing just with a smart phone. Would not be that difficult to add feature to post track to RG too (there would need to be at least placeholder for the event at RG site).

This looks like it is going to be great. Just set it up for our club at http://www.sroc.routegadget.co.uk/rg2/index.php. Normal events with electronic timing seem OK but we also have many events (night street events mainly) where there is no electronic results or courses files. Instead I point the controls manually during event set up (just start and finish because the map file used has all the controls on it) and runners add their names when saving their routes. When I select one of these events in Rg2 the map appears but the courses don't, so I can't select runners or view routes. I am using Chrome, and these events work as normal in Rg1.

A bit more testing has revealed that it seems to be events with only one course that don't display correctly, whether they have results files or not.

Yes but we have over 200 events in our Rg archive and roughly half of them are one course events. I don't fancy modifying all those files.

That doesn't work either. We have lots of summer series events with 2 courses and that don't work either, nor does our Bridge Wood event (4 courses). All were events without electronic results and courses were drawn by pointing manually.

For those who don't know, Jagge was the original developer of Routegadget, so I guess I better pay attention

This evening's updates are therefore:

• Control by control animation. Select "By control" at the bottom of the dropdown list.
• Improved handling of events with no defined courses. I think this has fixed most of the SROC problems: it certainly sorted out the HH street score events where we don't add results.
• Fix for the SUFFOC special character, although I haven't been able to find any more examples.
• Various minor tweaks that people have requested.

There are still various things I haven't looked at (score events for example) so they are working by accident at present. The good news is that people do seem to have installed it successfully on a large number of events without too many problems.

The touch interface that is required for tablets and phones is a significant step and will be a challenge to implement. Just think about how you add routes now and then think about how you would do that with your large fat finger instead of the single pixel accuracy of a mouse pointer with buttons to click. The tap action of touch is very clumsy for such detail.

Actually touch interfaces are surprisingly accurate. We've been working on floor plan drawing software which we're porting to tablets - the original mouse interface works OK with a touchscreen and we've been implementing sketching and handwriting which is best with a digitiser pen but OK with a finger.

I could certainly imagine RG with a touch interface throughout although appreciate it's more work and something for the future.

You'll probably have more problems fixing HTML5 issues on an iPad - but that's a different story.

Thanks, our street events work now. Just one thing though: all results are listed under a heading "GPS tracks", whether or not they are hand drawn or GPS tracks. Not a big deal but some non GPS users might think their tracks are not available.

The other problem, with one course events, seems still to exist. I mean events which have full course and results data from electronic files, but happen to have just the one course. This applies to most of our summer sprint events for example. The map opens but no results can be seen.
