Re: BOF Development Fund
Apologies to smf if he hasn't received reminder emails - as far as I know (from seeing that some clubs have responded) they have been sent, but it's quite possible that the ones for his club have gone astray.
For info, the £17,000 was awarded to specific projects (with POTOC, DEE, SELOC, HALO, CLOK, SUFFOC, WAOC and SMOC/LEI), rather than as a generic block grant - admittedly this could have been clearer in the minutes. Lest anybody north of the border feel too aggrieved, the same meeting also awarded £2200 to MarOC and £5000 to Moravian.
The future plan for the multi-day levy money is for it to be spent in a way that has UK-wide benefits. As ChristineV suggests, how it is spent will probably be influenced by what the Volunteer Needs Work Group reports.

I think that makes sense, it sounds rather like saying "we need more return on the investment".
So what if someone comes up with a good idea that could have national impact? A new technology that could improve the sport (eg. SI, RouteGadget, OpenOrienteeringMap), or some new type of event that could appeal to a demographic currently not catered for what we offer? The volunteer needs group can't spot all of these. That was the good thing about the old system, it encouraged those with special skills or ideas to go off and do something creative. Helping volunteers is only one way to have a national impact. Can people with innovative ideas that might have a national impact approach BOF directly for funding?
(I don't expect you can answer this one on Nopesport Scott
