Should BOF be promoting a fell race?

I'm very well aware I have given the event more publicity than it would otherwise have had - but at least I've given the Nottingham event some publicity as well - which is more the Person X did - it may only be a local event but there is a score which gives great training potential. You can run any day anywhere.
I'm not stirring up trouble, I'm asking what people think - its you lot who are stirring up trouble and while you are posting anonymously you can do that with very little come back can't you - how convenient I have never made any secret about who I am and you all know where to find me so don't have a go at me from behind the sofa.
Can't quite work out if your accusing me of political correctness or not - you'd have certainly had a go if i'd decided to bin it myself. 4 members now say don't pass it on.

If I were the planner of the NOC event and found out that people had gone to the fell race rather than my event because of national publicity by BOF then I would be very p....d off. Planners and organisers put considerable time and effort into events at all levels of the sport and this situation is just another way putting them off. I have planned at all levels of the sport and have never had such publicity for any of my events. As Steler said I do think that it was an oversite on BOFs part but they should be very careful in these situations. There is nothing wrong in advertising other sports but they do need to check up on any possible implication on O events.
There are many people out there waiting to complain and put people down. I know of a number of planners who will not plan anymore because of the wingers who complain about course length, climb, the map being wrong (normally they were lost at the time), a control in the wrong place, etc,etc, etc. I can imagine that a number of people in this debate are such wingers and you can almost certainly bet they have never planned, organised, or controlled an event. So people should stop putting people down unless they really do deserve it, the previous guest is a prime example.
Mrs H. Does she come into the above catogory? I would say no. She asked a legitamate question as to what people thought of the situation. She didn't voice an oppinion just a question. And does she put anything into orienteering. I think she edits her clubs magazine, is obviously the clubs publicity officer, and I have picked up a flier for next years JK on the continent (in four different languages) which I was informed had been produced by her. I also noted that she did the reporting on the world schools and posted some very good responses on forums on this web site.
