Aye, but they weren't world champs in street racing. It will be interesting to see how they do when it comes to the real stuff!

JM was certainly a leading light in the Park-O scene so street racing is nothing new to him.
He is "Mr Orienteering" so beating him at *any* discipline is, I believe, very impressive.
Anyway the good news is that if Quentin is in D then I'll be one place higher in the SROC double sprint at Clitheroe Castle tomorrow night. Anyone nearby come along - the format is excellent.
Cheers

Re: WMOC2012 just Days Away
Just been looking at the finals maps. A bit more interesting than yesterday's (just) but too many ins and outs the same way, contour lines looking like walls, some off-set circles and passing your next but one control on the way to your next one! Personally I would expect to see a high quality of planning and overprinting or am I expecting too much?
Was thinking of saving my pennies (pounds) to attend a WMOC at some point but not sure whether it's worth the considerable financial outlay if these sprint maps are anything to go by.

It looks more like what we'd call "urban" than "sprint" in the UK.
Specifically, there are lot of road crossings on the courses, such that whether you like this type of sprint or not, BOF guidelines wouldn't let you do a course like this.
Was the traffic stopped?
The number-shaped gullies in the carpark just SE of the finish look fun too.

On German Routegadget.
The courses look very much like some British urban events, and not so much like typical international sprint courses. Nice of them to make it well suited to the Brits...

Edit: just spotted that Graeme said the same thing above - well, we agree!

Looks like reasonable use of symbol 105, though I can't see how it makes the map any easier to interpret.

Re: WMOC2012 just Days Away
I felt the need to share this quote from Peter Gagarin on attackpoint...
... the proper way to look at the big picture is that the junior team exists to prepare for a better senior team, and the senior team exists to prepare for a better masters team, and the masters team, well, it's put up or shut up time
Though with 82(!) entrants on M80 that's quite a long to to stay shut up.

So well done to our Vets who beat these ex World Champions.

Looks to me like Jorgen got Bronze ?

Disappointed that no results available for today. Couldn't get live ones on either.

Re: WMOC2012 just Days Away
We're here and we're disappointed too! The display at the venue is all manual and over an hour out of date. Ok they do announce the leading time but not really of value when qualification is all about position. Today's forest had never been used before (well it was in east Germany) and quite a few problems were had distinguishing mapped boulders of varying size from the unmapped ones and having no nearby relocation reference. Being in 'green' spikey Christmas trees didn't help.
We await the results.
