I didn't say they weren't Steve - I've thoroughly enjoyed all of those, and wil continue to do so. But the North York Moors won't and don't attract people in the same way that, say, the Lakes, Scotland, sand-dunes etc will. Just because an area is a good test of one's orienteering, doesn't necessarily make it attractive (and it's not what I find attractive that mattered in this case!)
Of course, if the limit of your ambitions is to decide which is the best way to circumnavigate a block of flats, you might find them a bit technically and physically demanding
I totally agree, but then I don't think that's the limit of most FCC finalists' ambitions, nor the reason that they didn't turn up.
