Aye good link... have got a pair of these: http://www.blacktoe.co.uk/ice%20Grips/JH-201%20Non%20Slip%20Snow%20Grabbers.htm for winter running in Trondheim.
We call them granny spikes as all the grannies seem to own a pair. They are actually pretty good for turning regular running shoes into ice destroyers.

Re: Snow for Christmas
I have some ice bugs (the road ones, so more support and lower rubber bits) that I got at a bargainous price at Spring Cup 2009 - I recommend them!
Have been told by several locals that I am "mad/crazy/mental" whilst out running round the snow struck home counties when no one else could walk safely down the pavements. Also had an enjoyable run down the icy dual carriageway going out of Basingstoke down to my house
(The traffic was solid one way and non-existant the other way)
I bought some granny spikes in Stockholm but destroyed them within a few weeks as the elastic snapped in various places - it's important to get ones that fit well over trainers as well as leather shoes.
