W70 A first and a second would see Hilary overtake Vikki's score.

this should have been 55 for second place giving her a total of 442 not 446
so even if she won the last two events her final total would only be 460
Whereas Vicky only has to finish in the first three in either event to obtain an unassailable score

Epocian you are right. I'd already noticed the 59 point anomoly and hoped that no-one would notice I'd changed it on my files but not had time to re-upload it.

Following that I miscalculated the extra points that Hilary could accrue.

Following the Caddihoe Chase the tables have been updated.

Congratulations to Helen Pearce as the only poerson that has managed to get 8 first places (So Far?)

All class winners are now decided except the following 7 (unless you know differently)

M55 Gavin Clegg needs a top 3 place in Cambridge and not to be beaten by Pete Haines to overtake him overall.
M60 A win at Cambridge would see Steve Whitehead take top spot over John Britton, as would a second place as long as John is lower.
M65 Victory at Cambridge for Julian Lailey would see him overtake Jim Prowting by 1 point.
M75 If Andrew Gregory gets a top 2 placing at Cambridge, providing he's not beaten by John Thompson, he'' overtake him overall.
W45 A win at Cambridge for Lesley Ross will see her overtake Hazel Dean overall as, even if Hazel is second, Lesley would then win on countback.
W50 A Cambridge win for Jill Libby would see her scrape past Alice Bedwell.
W55 The only 3 horse race left. A win at Cambridge for either Janet Rosen or Alison Simmons would see them overtake Ann Cranke's score, however Ann has scope to improve hers without having to win the final race.

Hazel Dean joins Richard Barrett and Helen Pearce as the only people to manae a full quota of 8 wins.

Both Andrew Gregory and Jill Libby came second at Cambridge, thus just failing to take the day and overall series wins.

Martin Dean manaaged to win at Cambridge but just needed a couple more points to have taken it overall.

Class winners came from all over mainland UK, although SWOA had more than any other region. This depite the fact that they only had one event in their region and the geographical spread of events did not favour them.

This is a great series - very motivating to get out more - and really pleased it is running again next year in the same format. I think the spread of events is good (even though one less in Scotland next year!) although it is hard to make the 8 on a limited budget and with conflicting family responsibilities.

My one change (had I the power) would be to split the JK classic days to make both count. I can understand why the dont (I assume so the sprint can be a counter too) but I think the premier UK event can get away with 3 counting days, even if this was to add one to the overall total.

The main reason (IIRC) is that the UKMC tries to incorporate a spread not just geographically but also of styles. The JK is the acknowledgement to multi-day racing - two days combined, as opposed to one day classics.
As for the premier UK event - that's a matter of opinion. Personally, if I ever had the luxury of choosing (or even getting close!), I'd much rather win the British than the JK, although I suspect that a lot would say the opposite.

In the UKC and the FCC you've got two different styles for days 2 and 3 - Middle and Long. If that was the same for the Vets, I'm sure it would go to 3 separate counters.

Not that I have any real input into the chosen events, I completely agree with your argument AWK. That's surely one reason why the Caddihoe chase was chosen this year. I'd like to see a chasing sprint included as well.

The results won't be finalised for a few days - we're still receiving a substantial number of confessions to accidentally straying into Out of Bounds areas that have to be assessed by us and the controller. There will be changes! It's probably a bit premature to have calculated Masters Cup scores but since they're up, just remember to take them with a pinch of salt.

Definitely! And, at the other end of the spectrum, a Long-O. The more we can celebrate the variety of orienteering now available the better, IMO.

I realised there would be changes, although probably none that affect the winners. I put up the (provisional) results for interest on the one site. I don't intend to send them into BOF until the results are confirmed and necessary changes have been made.

Meanwhile I thought it would give people an extra chance to send in any errors of mine that they may notice.

Next year I intend to require BOF numbers so that there will be no problem with either identifying non-members or those that enter under a variety of names.

Thanbks Awk - that makes more sense to me now. I guess some points are harder won than others....
